Moonwood Lythari

Due to the constant conflicts with the evil lycanthropes who follow the god Malar; these protectors of the Moonwood have had to become much more ferocious than their more peace living cousins from other regions.

  • +2 Strength, +2 Dexterity, +2 Constitution, +4 Wisdom
  • Medium Humanoid (Elf and Shapechanger)
  • A lythari’s base land speed is 30 feet in elven form.
  • Moonwood Lythari have low-light vision and darkvision up to 60 feet.
  • +2 natural armor bonus in any form.
  • Immunity to both magical and non-magical sleep or diseases.
  • Lythari have resistance to poison equal to their total hit dice.
  • Elven Heritage: Moonwood lythari have a +4 racial saving throw bonus against enchantment and a +2 bonus to charm spells or effects. In addition, if a lythari fails such a save, it receives another save 1 round later to prematurely end the effect (assuming the spell or spell-like ability has a duration greater than 1 round). This second save is made at the same DC as the first. If the member of the race has a similar ability from another source (such as a rogue’s slippery mind class feature), it can only use one of these abilities per round, but can try the other on the second round if the first reroll ability fails.
  • Elven Magic: Lythari receive a +2 racial bonus on caster level checks made to overcome spell resistance. In addition, lythari receive a +2 racial bonus on Spellcraft skill checks made to identify the properties of magic items.
  • Fount of life: So connected with nature and life itself that Moonwood lythari gain resistance 5 against negative energy damage. They do not lose hit points when they gain a negative level, and they gain a +2 racial bonus on saving throws against death effects, energy drain, negative energy, and spells or spell-like abilities.
  • Tireless Runnder: Lythari receive a +4 racial bonus on Constitution checks and Fortitude saves to avoid fatigue and exhaustion, as well as any other ill effects from running, forced marches, starvation, thirst, and hot or cold environments.
  • Ferocity: Moonwood lythari gain the following extraordinary ability: If the hit points of a member of this race fall below 0 but it is not yet dead, it can continue to fight. If it does, it is staggered, and loses 1 hit point each round. It still dies when its hit points reach a negative amount equal to its Constitution score.
  • Cornered Fury: Whenever a Moonwood lythari is reduced to half its hit points or fewer and has no conscious ally within 30 feet, it gains a +2 racial bonus on melee attack rolls and to Armor Class.
  • Silent Predator: Moonwood lythari reduce the penalty for using Stealth while moving by 5 and can make Stealth checks while running at a –20 penalty (this number includes the penalty reduction from this trait). The gain a +4 racial bonus to Stealth and is always treated as class skill for members of this race.
  • Wolf Senses: A lythari has exceptional visual and auditory acuity. They receive a +4 racial bonus on Perception skill checks and always treat Perception as a class skill.
  • One with the Forest: Moonwood lythari have a deep perception of nature and know how to take advantage of the environment. While in a forest they gain a +2 dodge bonus to AC and can move through natural difficult terrain at their normal speed. Magically altered terrain affects them normally.
  • Fertile Soil: Sorcerer members of this race with the verdant bloodline treat their Charisma score as 2 points higher for all sorcerer spells and class abilities. Clerics who are members of this race with the Plant domain use their domain powers and spells at +1 caster level. This trait does not give members of this race early access to level-based powers; it only affects powers that they could already use without this trait.
  • Children of the wolf: Moonwood lythari can speak with wolves in any form as if under a constant speak with animals spell and have a +4 racial bonus on Charisma based checks against wolves and dire wolves.
  • Elven Blood/Lycanthrope: For all effects related to race, a Lythari is considered an elf and Lycanthrope.
  • Weapon Familiarity: lythari are proficient with longbows (including composite longbows), longswords, rapiers, and shortbows (including composite shortbows), and treat any weapon with the word “elven” in its name as a martial weapon.
  • Bonus Feats: Improved Initiative, Iron Will
  • Automatic Languages: Common and Elven. Bonus Languages: Draconic, Gnoll, Gnome, Goblin, Orc, Sylvan.
  • Change Shape: lythari are natural shapeshifters and can assume the form of a wolf as a standard action.
    • Gain a +2 size bonus to Strength, Dexterity, and Constitution
    • Base land speed 50
    • Have a +6 Natural Armor bonus
    • Damage reduction 10/silver.
    • Powerful Natural weapon – A Moonwood lythari’s natural attacks do damage as if a creature one size category larger.
      • Bite (1d8 + Str bonus)
    • Scent: A lythari can detect approaching enemies, sniff out hidden foes, and track by sense of smell. Creatures with the scent ability can identify familiar odors just as humans do familiar sights.
    • Skills: A lythari in wolf form gains a +4 inherent bonus on Survival checks when tracking by scent.
    • Feats: A lythari has the following bonus feats in wolf form only: Natural Spell, Trip, Weapon Focus Bite.

Moonwood Warrior Lythari

Among the Moonwood Lythari there is a bloodline who’s powers go even a step further. These Warrior Lythari have the special ability to shapechange into a hybrid form like someone afflicted with the lycanthropy curse. Unlike those that are cursed they have total control of their change and like other lythari do not pass a curse from their bite.

Base powers as Moonwood Lythari with a +1 Level Adjustment for Change Shape, Hybrid.

  • Change Shape, Hybrid: warrior lythari are natural shapeshifters with a powerful hybrid form.
    • Gain a +2 size bonus to Strength, Dexterity, and Constitution
    • Base land speed 40
    • Have a +6 Natural Armor bonus
    • Damage reduction 10/silver.
    • Powerful Natural weapon – A Moonwood lythari’s natural attacks do damage as if a creature one size category larger.
      • Bite (1d8 + Str bonus)
      • Claws (1d6 + Str bonus). 1/2 Str bonus if used as a secondary attack.
    • Scent: A lythari can detect approaching enemies, sniff out hidden foes, and track by sense of smell. Creatures with the scent ability can identify familiar odors just as humans do familiar sights.
    • Skills: A lythari in wolf form gains a +4 inherent bonus on Survival checks when tracking by scent.
    • Feats: A lythari has the following bonus feats in wolf form only: Natural Spell, Weapon Focus Bite.

Instead of their claws warrior lythari can choose to use any melee weapon they would normally use in their humanoid form.
